About Us

 

 

   Terri raised 3 boys who Are all out of the house and doing fine. She has lived all over the world and has worn many hats. Currently she is a Real Estate Agent, A soap maker and # 1 helper on Greg's Strawbale projects.

   Greg is a “retired ski bum”, entrepreneur, and currently builds Strawbale homes with his company  The Strawbale Cottage. He has designed and built four homes from excavation and septic to finished product.

   We both love the outdoors and when not earning a living or working on our place we hike, bike, ski, canoe and mostly relax on our property. We love  living in straw and playing with mud and are both believers in the advantages of sustainable building and life.

   Creative Mountain is a unique place. Three miles up a one way dirt road and nestled in the hills outside of Salida Co. it sits in a narrow valley, over looking the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. It is remote, quite, and peaceful. As a result it is completely off the grid. Featuring a homestead cabin built in 1907, a Tire/Strawbale Addition which houses our kitchen and bathroom, Several outbuildings and an old tobacco barn that was re-erected back in the “70’s”. All in various stages of repair. We have a small Photovoltaic system that provides our electricity, and a gravity fed spring and domestic well. All of which has been built, repaired, and maintained by us. Consequently we have a lot to share with folks who are interested in the same.
